Rooted and Grounded in Love – A New Commandment

Most people, whether they go to church or not, know there are 10 Commandments.  Over recent years the Ten Commandments have even become controversial!  Do you know that Jesus gave a new commandment in the New Testament?  It is the commandment of love!

 Prayer

Thank you, Father, for continuing to work in me both to will and do your good pleasure.  I know that by faith, Christ dwells in my heart and that I am being rooted and grounded in love as I continue in your Word and in fellowship with you.  God, you are love and this love is beyond my natural understanding.  Your love never fails.  This love fills me with all the fulness of God.  May your love in me flow out to all those around me.  My mind is renewed to these truths and I praise you for doing exceeding abundantly above all that I can ask or think in my life according to the power that works in me.  Unto you O God, be glory in the church by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without end!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Look for opportunities today to demonstrate God’s love to others.

Read These Scriptures

Philippians 2:13

 Ephesians 3:17-21

 I Corinthians 13:4-8

John 13:24

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.   Philippians 2:13

17Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.19May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.  Ephesians 3:17-21

4Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged6It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 8Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!  I Corinthians 13:4-8

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.  John 13:24
